Letter -- MP expenses

Dear Editor,

While the main political parties seem to be stuck in a mire of corruption and cronyism, your readers might be forgiven for refusing to vote at all on 4 June. But before they take this drastic step, they should consider an alternative: voting for the Green Party. The Greens have two MEPs, two London Assembly members, and hundreds of local councillors and parish councillors across the country, but they have never been accused of financial irregularity or abuse of power.

Compare the leading politicians of the grey parties with our own leader, Caroline Lucas MEP, who was voted Politician of the Year in The Observer Ethical Awards in 2007, and as one of The Guardian’s ‘Top 50 Eco Heroes’ in 2008. Caroline is also at the forefront of the campaign to clean up the Brussels bureaucracy and bring an end to the Strasbourg gravy train. The difference between her principled approach to politics and that of many politicians from the big parties could not be greater. Perhaps voters on 4 June should remember that Green means Clean!

Yours,

Patrick Little
